Week in Review: Crazy June Weather!

    This month has had some very interesting weather! Tornados, hail, lots of rain, scary looking clouds, lightning, strong winds and power outages have made June very interesting this year. As I am writing this I am sitting inside with no power, using the last bit of battery my computer has left. This crazy weather sure gives you a lot more respect for the power of mother nature! I hope everyone stays safe out there.
   Here are some iPhone shots of some of the crazy weather this month. Excluding a lightning shot which I accidentally deleted off of my camera :(

Sneak Peek: Pre-School Grad and Family Shoot {Vanscoy Family Photographer}

  This week I got to attend a Pre-School graduation to take photos of this young man's big day. The graduates sang songs about kindergarten, told us what they loved most about pre-school and received their diploma and a gift. They all did so good. Here is a sneak peek from the ceremony.

After the graduation family and friends celebrated with supper, visiting and family photos. Here is a sneak peek of their shoot.

All graduated and ready to relax and enjoy summer vacation! Congratulations!!

Week in Review: A Look Into My Photo Bag!

      This summer will be very busy with photo shoots, events and weddings. Tomorrow kicks off wedding season for me and I am so excited! As I was getting everything packed and ready to go for the weekend I decided it might be fun to give you a look into my camera bag to show you what I normally take with me to shoot a wedding. I love looking at what other photographers have in their bags so I thought I would show you what's in mine. I hope you enjoy!

The bag that I take to weddings is a camera bag by Kelly Moore called "The Libby."
I love it!

Here is a look at what I have in it:

1. My cameras. Main Camera - Canon 5D Markll, Backup Camera - Canon Rebel Xsi
2. A bag of things I may need throughout the day - Gum, Deoderant, Halls, an Energy Bar, Hair Ties and Tylenol
3. Sophie - My assistant for getting small kids' attention, Raincoat - for my camera incase of bad weather
4. My lenses - The two starred are my most used which are my medium focal length lens and zoom lens, the other two are my macro lens and portrait lens.
5. Extra Memory Cards, Extra battery,  Eraser - to clean the contact between my lens and camera
6. My flash, diffuser and extra flash batteries

*I also bring along my shot list and information from the consultation as well as business cards
 *I bring extra things such as lense cleaner, battery chargers and reflector in a different bag just in case!

I hope you enjoyed this peek into my bag!

Sneak Peek: Family Shoot {Clearwater Lake Family Photographer}

      I love taking pictures at the lake! This past weekend I got to take photos of our "lake neighbours." In-between all the rain we have been having there was one sunny day and thankfully it was the day of their shoot. The boys have changed a lot since the last photo shoot I had with them, especially the youngest. It was great to spend the morning hanging out with them. Thanks again!

Week in Review: Renovations, Editing and Organizing

   This week feels like "the calm before the storm," (A good storm!) Next week is super busy with photo shoots, the start of wedding season and the kick off to a busy summer which I am very excited about. I have really been using this week to get caught up and organized for the busy photo season ahead.
   This week was full of bathroom renovations, painting the bedroom, editing photo shoots and getting all of my gear organized. My office has turned into temporary storage for baseboards, shower curtains and other miscellaneous renovation items so was nice to get out of the house and go riding or go for a walk in the park. Even though it seems like chaos, I love this time of year!
   Here are a few random shots from my week.

Sneak Peek: Family Shoot {Biggar Family Photographer}

  I love spring shoots! There is something really special about the quality of light you get and all the green grass. This family was so great to photograph and were up for anything. They even braved the mosquitos to get some good shots sitting in the grass. I hope they enjoy their sneak peek. It was great to meet you!

Week in Review: Kyle Multiple 4-H Achievement Day

   This past Sunday was the Kyle Multiple 4-H Club Achievement Day. I was a member of this club in the Lighthorse project for 7 years so I always like going to watch and take in the day.
  An Achievement Day is a celebration of the member's successful 4-H year. It is a day to show your Achievements and all your hard work.
   This year I brought my little pony, "Stormy," to Lighthorse for some of the members to ride. I had fun and I think Stormy did too. It was great to see all the Lighthorse kids do so good riding their horses in front of all the spectators and fellow 4-H members.
   Here are some photos from the day!
